Sensitive Skin Care
Sensitive skin can be identified through several indicators that may be shown by the skin: breaking out in rashes, stinging at the use of normal skin care products, and constant irritation by skin care products and/or environmental factors. Basic skin care routine should be followed by every person; however, sensitive skin care does indeed have some differences and we may need to re-think about the usual skin care routine for this sensitive skin. For instance, sensitive skin care requires skin care products that cater to the particular needs of sensitive skin; these products usually bear a special label “for sensitive skin” or similar. Products made with sensitive skin care in mind contain natural skin soothing ingredients such as aloe and will most likely avoid alcohol.
For people with sensitive skin, there are some specialised routines of sensitive skin care. These include, for example, taking particular care to choose a makeup remover that must be soap-free, and using a cotton swab instead of a washcloth when applying the new makeup remover. Washcloth is considered too harsh for sensitive skin and may irritate the skin, and people with sensitive skin should refrain from using it. Another harsh abrasive a person with sensitive skin should steer clear of is exfoliating scrub that contains granules of any size, large or small. In place of such exfoliating scrub, products that contain salicylic acid should be used instead. A once a week use of such products will keep pores de-clogged.
Sensitive skin care for people having trouble with oil control includes the use of toners which are gentler than the ones developed for normal skin. These gentler toners are made with natural ingredients such as witch hazel, whereas the normal ones may contain alcohol which is harsh ingredient for sensitive skin. Last but not least, sensitive skin should also be protected from sun damage by applying sunscreen or sunscreen-containing moisturizer that has zinc or titanium dioxide which is considered safer for sensitive skin as these ingredients are not absorbed into the skin.
